(collaboration with Lee House) , Alaska, September 2018
At the southernmost point of the Chilkat Peninsula
Between two tides
A balanced moment
Not for later
But for now
Stand
Look
Breath
Pick up
Put down
Pick up
Rocks chosen on flat merit and bumpy challenge
Portions of the sea, cast aside
Gentle weights, stacked precarious
Turned gently in our hands to wipe the grit
Moments of touch
Carefully passed
Small gestures in open palms
We built this cairn together
Twenty-one stones
A love poem for the ocean
